Practical driving skills
When it comes to learning the practical driving skills, there is more to learning the basic car control and rules of the road.
We use a system of driver training based on the GDE (Goals for Driver Education) Matrix. The Matrix (or table of skills) is divided into 4 levels. For example, most driving instructors have been trained to teach you basic car control - how to move off, change gear, turn left or right through to complex manoeuvres. This would be at levels four and five of the Matrix.
However there's more to learning the basics. For example:
- Do you need to make the journey?
- How would you deal with situations after you have passed, if your not feeling well?
- How would you deal with aggressive drivers (peer pressure)?
- What if your late for an appointment, will you change your driving skills?
- How would you react to other drivers mistakes?
- Learning about self-evaluation.
- How your character affects your driving decisions.
- The human misery of a crash and avoiding them.
These are just a few of the topics that we discuss (levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Matrix) during your training, to improve your chances of avoiding a crash in your early years of driving, The main reason for using this system, is that most people (particularly if you're under 25), are involved in a crash within the first year of passing the driving test. We want to help you to avoid this.
We have teamed up with edriving solutions to help you to become a safe driver.
